98th Anniversary of the Battle of Cambrai




Saturday, 21th November

17.45 :
"FLARE OF MEMORY" and Laying of Wreaths at the Flesquières Hill British Cemetery.

18.30 :
Wreath-laying by families of former crew-members at the barn of Deborah D51, 3 bis rue du Moulin, 59267 Flesquières.
Presentation of plans for the future Interpretation Centre on Deborah and the Battle of Cambrai, to be unveiled for the 2017 centenary.


Sunday, 22th November

09.00 :
Meet at "Place des Combattants", 59267 Flesquières, for a guided walk following in the tracks of "E" Battalion Tank Corps on 20th November, 1917. (Transport provided to Trescault, followed by 4 km walk along farm-tracks back to Flesquières. Wear suitable shoes for muddy ground and bring waterproofs). The walk will be led by John Taylor, historian and author of a book to be published on the story of Deborah D51, and Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Geoffrey Vesey Holt, historian of the Royal Tank Regiment.

Laying of wreaths at the Memorial of the Battle of Cambrai, Louverval (D930).
